StYLe FiLe

Just Ask Ali! Responding to questions you want to know about fashion, style and beauty. This month learn all about homemade masks to keep your skin polished and smooth.

Q: Dear Ali,
What is the best face mask to use? I have Sea Kelp & Mineral or Tea Tree and Witch Hazel. Help!

Seth

A: Oh Seth, your skin always looks amazing! Sea Kelp and MIneral detoxify the pore and get all the build up out while Tea Tree and Witch Hazel are anti-bacterial so it looks like you are on the right path if your skin is combination/oily and you can break out once in a while. Keep looking fabulous Seth!

Love,

So Seth's question inspires our Style File this month! Here are some recipes for at home masks you can do based on your skin type!

OILY SKIN/BLEMISH PRONE SKIN:
-Blend 1/2 tsp lemon juice, 1 egg white, 1 tsp of honey (heat in microwave just to melt together). Leave on for 20 minutes then rinse.
The lemon juice helps to exfoliate and brighten the skin, the egg white will help to draw out access oil and the honey will help to smooth and balance your skin!

-If you are Blemish Prone, after masking with the prior mask. Apply a thin layer of milk of magnesia to the effected areas, leave on for 20 min then rinse.

NORMAL SKIN:
-Mix 1 egg white, 1/2 cup of cooked oatmeal. Leave on 20 minutes then rinse.
This will keep your skin balanced and fresh.

DRY SKIN:
-Mix 1/2 of an avocado with 1/4 cup of honey. Leave on 20 minutes then rinse.
Avocados are a great source of omega fatty acids that dry skin is depleted in, honey will balance and rehydrate.

ALL SKIN TYPES:
-To Smooth skin: Warm honey to melt in the microwave, apply and leave on for 20 min. Rinse. Easy!
-To freshen: Apply a layer of plain yogurt to the skin, leave on for 20 min then rinse. Easy!
