The ROARsome Ramblings of Emmett Cullen: Issue 3

Christmas is more than a time to give and recieve gifts. It’s a time for family and friends, a time to give thanks and be merry. Often we get caught up in the commercial aspect of it and forget about those less fortunate. I decided to scout out a list of charities that you can help with this time of year. You never know, giving just might make you feel better than any gift you could receive.

Christmas Charity-#1
Make-A-Wish Foundation
The Make-A-Wish Foundation helps grant wishes for children with life-threatening health conditions. By donating to this charity for Christmas, you can help make a wish come true for a child that may not have another Christmas. Knowing that you helped put a smile on the face of a child that is battling a life-threatening condition is a great feeling.
www.wish.org

Christmas Charity-#2
The Salvation Army's Angel Tree
The Angel Tree program is a charity that provides new clothes, toys, and other gifts for needy children for Christmas. Paper angels are attached to Christmas trees that are located in malls, stores, and other locations. The paper angel contains the first name, age, and gender of the child. You can choose one or more of the angels from the tree and purchase age appropriate gifts and clothes for the child. Return the purchased gifts back to where you adopted the angel and the parents of the child will pick up the items to give to them on Christmas day.
www.salvationarmyusa.org

Christmas Charity-#3
Toys for Tots
The U.S. Marine Corps Reserves holds their Toys for Tots campaign each year during the months of October, November, and December. Unwrapped toys are collected to be given to needy children at Christmas. The gifts are distributed in the communities where they are collected.
http://www.toysfortots.org/

Christmas Charity-#5
Local Food Banks
Local food banks donate food baskets to families so that they can have Christmas dinner. Most food banks accept food and monetary donations. If you don't have much money but still want to help, consider donating your time to help the food bank put all the boxes together and deliver them.

Christmas Charity-#6
Local Schools
Many local schools try to provide food or gifts for needy students and their families. Contact the school system and ask if they are taking donations or if you can donate gifts or food.

Christmas Charity-#7
Homeless Shelters
Volunteer your time to help cook Christmas dinner at your local homeless shelter. This is a great charity that you can get the entire family involved in. Start a Christmas tradition where the family spends a couple of hours every Christmas volunteering their time to make the holidays better for others.

Christmas Charity-#8
Local Nursing Homes
Sponsor an elderly person this Christmas. Some people in nursing homes don't have family that visits during the holidays. Get in touch with the nursing home and see if they can give you some information on a patient that doesn't have family. Find out what the person likes or needs at take it to them this Christmas. A small gift and a few minutes of company can make the day of some of these patients.

No matter what charity that you decide to donate to this Christmas, you will feel wonderful knowing that you helped brighten this Christmas for someone else.
Merry Christmas from Cullensonline!

The ROARsome Ramblings of Emmett Cullen: Issue 2

Emmett is concerned!

I was on a last minute hunt the other day when I stumbled upon a herd of deer. Okok, I know you don’t want to hear this but I am getting to my point. After my snack, I had a weird taste in my mouth and thought to myself how the deer’s blood didn’t taste as good as it usually did. My brain went into high gear and came to the conclusion that it had to be the environment the deer were in.(yes I know what your thinking and I do have a functioning brain).

To make a long story short, our earth is very precious to us. We should take care of our environment seeing as we need it to live in it. Not helping in the aid of protecting in it results in things such as bad air quality and bad living environments.(yes that means it can hurt us physically, such as the deer)

Are you thinking that just because you're one person that you can't make much of an impact? Well your wrong. If tons of people just change one way in their lifestyle then it can make a huge difference. Below I have a couple of tips as to how you can help the environment. The great thing about these tips is that in most cases you really won’t have to change your lifestyle radically to have an impact on the environment.

Turn off lights and televisions when not using them. Less energy being used helps out big time plus it will cut down the energy bill which will make your parents or yourself much happier.

Carpool or walk to closer areas.-Big help in cutting back on gas use(which yet again saves money)and less exhaust fumes.

For more advice and tips on how to help the environment here are a couple of websites to visit

The ROARsome Ramblings Of Emmett Cullen: Issue 1

The Art of Pranking

My ramblings have lead me today to the subject of pranking. Something I am very good at, at certain times. A perfect prank should be funny, but it should also make a statement. It should be a surprise and make an impact. If you're lucky you do not have a sister who can see the future. Alice has turned quite a few pranks around on me.

Webster’s dictionary defines a practical joke as a gag or stunt or trick to purposely make someone feel foolish or victimized, usually for humor. I try to keep mine funny, less anger and backlash from the people you pull them on. Many people wait till April to pull pranks but let me tell ya, everyday should be April fools. The element of surprise makes for the best pranks.

Some of the best pranks I ever pulled were last minute decisions. Hiding Edward's CD’s in Carlisle and Esme’s bed, gluing cartoon clippings in all of Jaspers books...and my personal favorite, hiding all of Jacob's car keys from him...in Rose’s closet.

Often pranks can end in an embarrassing situation for the pranker as well. Hence the embarrassing story of having to call Jasper “The man” but that’s a whole new story. What are some of the best pranks you have pulled or heard of? Send me an email at GrizzlyEmmettCullen@hotmail.com and maybe you will see them in a future article.

Your Questions Answered: Jasper Whitlock Hale

Charlotte and Seth got the opportunity to put the members of TCO's questions to Jasper. If you want to learn more about our resident southern gentleman, Read On!

Charlotte:
So we have the pleasure of being in the company with the strangely wonderful, newly re-married Jasper Whitlock Hale. Tell us how it feels to be the first person to face the questions that come directly from the public.

Jasper:
Honestly? I'm not too sure. I think that had I been human I may have been nervous. But currently? I haven’t the foggiest. I'm not good with questions about myself..

Seth:
You'll be fine, don't worry. *smiles* Our first question is from Angela Weber. She would like to know about your human life. Can you tell us what you remember of it?

Jasper:
Wow that’s a question to start with... My human memories are sketchy at best, but I think I can fill in some detail. I was born in Houston, Texas, My father owned a ranch and my mother was a house wife. When I was born my mother sank into a depression and then when I was a little older, she had my sister Lily. I don't remember too much about her except she was beautiful and I adored her very much.
What I do remember was being fond of school, and books, I loved books. I also remember being quite the charmer as my father put it. But no one ever stuck for me.

Seth:
How about your time in the Army? Could you tell us about it?

Jasper:
When I was 17 I joined the Southern Confederate Army and likewise my charisma and love of the plan made me an easy choice for Major. It was then when I was almost 20, whilst serving just outside the city that I ran into Maria... the rest, as they say, is history.

Charlotte:
So Jasper you moved through the arm ranks fairly quickly for a young man, do you feel that you were made to grow up too quickly?

Jasper :
I don't know, I suppose so, and yet I remember always being old for my age, I was made to look after Lily from a young age so I guess I grew before the Army. I saw things as many do in times of war, and that definitely hardened me but as far as I am concerned I was grown before then.

Seth:
And after you met Maria, you were changed by her and worked with her?

Jasper:
*Frowning slightly* Ah yeah, you could say that.

Seth:
Then, of course, you met Alice. *smiles*

Jasper:
*Smiles wider, visibly brighter.* After some time I did, yes.

Seth:
So, how did you two meet exactly? Our readers love a romantic tale.

Jasper:
In a way you could call it that. More like hope though. See I was travelling down in Philadelphia when the rain started, not wanting to be caught in it, being that I only had the clothes on my back, I stepped into this dinner at the risk of all inside, and when I looked up there she was, she most beautiful woman I had ever seen, she was tiny and yet so beautiful, my breath caught.
But she was still one of our kind. And I had been taught to be weary of our kind, no matter how civil they seem, so when she came to me I was quite shocked at how much love there seemed to be within her, for me. It was curious, I had never felt anything like that and she felt it all for me, even though I had never met her in my existence.

Seth:
So it was love at first sight?

Jasper:
From the moment she looked at me, and the moment I felt that pure emotion, I knew I had found my reason for going on. And when her small hand touched mine it was like fire over my skin, her voice was like an angel and I knew. I just knew I was meant to be with her. I didn't even know her name, and yet this girl held me completely in the palm of her hand. Needless to say I was kinda whipped. *Grins*

Seth:
Aww. That's so sweet. If only we all had a story like that to tell.

Charlotte:
Ok boys. Now I hate to be the one to break up all the mushy love stuff but... well it has to be done!

Jasper:
*Rolls eyes at Charlotte, clearing my throat in a very manly way* please continue.

Seth:
*looks disappointed, was enjoying the mush*

Charlotte:
So to put it bluntly your diet now Cullen style is very different from your earlier days. Lisa Collins wants to know how difficult it was for you adjusting to this new veggie style way of life.

Jasper:
*Shifting slightly in an old habit, scratching the back of my neck* Well... Let’s just say that in my time I have taken many lives, I drank a lot of human blood... and even when I was at my lowest point, I never dreamed of not drinking from humans, so the moment that Alice told me of the Cullen’s I was skeptical at best, but swore to make her proud. Little did I know, it was easier said than done... When you've spent your life getting blood from any human any time you want, the prospect of having them off-limits is quite difficult for me.
Even after so long, I slip up. The scent never stops enticing me and my self restraint is not endless. So being surrounded by humans and not being allowed to taste... it’s like having a glass of water dangled before you in the driest of droughts and not being able to drink from it even as the condensation entices you to the point of near madness. At some point you will grow tired of waiting for that oasis and you will slip up. Or, you will move on.
For me it is mostly the former. I can't begin to describe how hard it is for me not to harm anyone. So instead I take extra precautions, hunting more frequently than others and the like... but the thirst is never fully quenched. So it’s easier for me to stay away from humans all together.

Charlotte:
Well I can honestly say Jasper, I do not know how you do it, trust me readers it’s not an easy thing to give up... And poor Seth is looking a little tense sitting here between the two of us...

Jasper:
Sorry man.

Seth:
*coughs* Yeah... It's okay...

Charlotte:
So I am intrigued to know, would you ever be tempted to revert back to your old ways for good?

Jasper:
I'm not going to lie and say there is not temptation; however I doubt if I could I would go back. Like I said, I do this for Alice, this is what she wants and as long as this is what she wants I will give it to her. So no. Not at the moment.

Charlotte:
So do you think we could convince Alice to convert to the true way of life? I mean, surely she would do anything to be with you and make you happy.

Jasper:
*shakes my head* She says she would, and I am sure if I truly asked... but it would not be what she wanted. Alice has so much compassion and love for these humans, and if we were to convert then she would be destroying what she believes in, we would be forced to leave the Cullen’s, our family... I could never ask that of her.
*chuckles after a second* Besides, she's stubborn, that one. She wouldn't fall for that easily.

Charlotte:
Oh I am sure you could work your magic Mr. Whitlock.

Seth:
*laughs* I'm sure. Now... we have some quick fire questions for you.

Jasper:
*Smirks slightly* Sweet. Bring it on Wolf Boy.

Seth:
Right. What is your favorite thing to do in your alone time?

Charlotte:
Keep it clean.

Jasper:
*Rolls eyes at Charlotte* Well Seth, contraire to what Charly thinks I do in my spare time, I like to read or to play my guitar.

Seth:
*nods* Your guitar. I heard you've named it, are the rumors true?

Jasper:
*Chuckles* Kinda a joke actually *Looking rather embarrassed* I lost a bet and Emmett made me name the guitar...

Seth:
What did you name it?

Jasper:
*Scratching at the back of my neck again and muttering* Bettsy.

Charlotte:
Bettsy? Now would she be named after anyone special?

Jasper:
*Shakes my head, looking down slightly* No...

Charlotte:
*raises eyebrow* well we wont push you on that one

Jasper:
*sighs* if you must know, it was after the girl who held my first kiss... next question?

Seth:
Jacqui wants to know: what could you not live without? Apart from Alice.

Jasper:
Honestly? I couldn't say there was anything that I truly treasured to the point of never living without it... Physical possessions are not important to me... So I suppose that my family would be a big part, however I couldn't say I could not live without them... I love them all dearly but if it came to the point where I had to leave, I would.

Seth:
Oh, interesting. We have one more question left. Actually it's more of a request. Janelle would like to know: what is your favorite song to play on your guitar and is there a chance you may give us a rendition of it in chat?

Jasper:
*Chuckles* I think of all songs I plan my favorite song would be 'Time of your life', The hit by Green Day. It allows me to use my vocals too and Alice seems to like the way I sing so... and to answer that last question, it is doubtful, I am sorry but unlike my brothers I prefer to stay outside of the spotlight.

Seth:
Are you sure? The members and our readers will be very disappointed. Maybe you'll think about it?

Jasper:
I could certainly think about it... perhaps for a special event.

Seth:
We can't wait. *grins* That’s all we have for you Jasper. Thank you very much for giving us your time to answer the reader's questions, I'm sure they are very grateful too.

Charlotte:
Well Jas it has to be said you have been a very willing first interviewee and probably one of the hottest at that. *winks*

Jasper:
*Laughs* Hey now, just remember I'm taken.

Seth:
You have the last word, anything else you want to add?

Jasper:
Nothin' really just thank you all for asking me such questions and I hope that I have answered them to the point where you have more understanding of my past... Um... yeah... that’s it. Thank you.

StYLe FiLE

Hi there fashionistas!

Want to get skin that dazzles like a vampire in the sunlight? Well look no further than your kitchen at home! Here is my favorite recipe for the perfect facial scrub *whispers* and by the way, all of the Cullen men love this too and don't let them tell you different! *winks*

Oh Sugar!

Here is a fabulous at home Sugar scrub you can make and enjoy once a week. The best part...it's effective and inexpensive! To have a well rounded exfoliator you need to have two major components:
1) A physical exfoliator to remove the build up of hardened dead skin cells on the surface. (Gross fact: at any given time you have up to 40 layers of hardened keritinized dead skin cells)
2) A chemical exfoliator such as an Alpha Hydroxy Acid or enzyme to go deeper than the physical exfoliator and eat away the dead skin cells.

Ingredients: (enough to make for face and body)

1/2 cup of sugar (physical exfoliator)
1/2 a lemon freshly squeezed (chemical exfoliator/ Alpha Hydroxy Acid)
1 cup of Olive Oil (acts as an emulsifier and moisturizer)
Directions:
Mix ingredients together in bowl
Apply exfoliator with fingertips using soft circular motions. Continue massaging in circular motions for 30 seconds keeping away from eye area.
Leave on face for 3 minutes so the Alpha Hydroxy Acids can thoroughly exfoliate (it makes a great 3 minute mask!)
Rinse and moisturize.

...repeat the same directions for body.

See ya next time!

So You Had To Ask!?

Dear Angela and Lauren,

I have been with this guy for 6 years. He loves me I know and I love him with all of my heart. The problem is, he has a dead end job that barely brings him in $400 a month and I make just over $2200 a month. I end up paying for everything and I am frustrated. He never wants to get married but every time I am ready to leave him, he says he can't believe that I am giving up on us that easily. What do I do and where do I go from here.

~confused but in love

Dear Confused But In Love,

Hmm, that IS a toughie. I understand your frustration because that really isn’t fair at all, but don’t give up on him just yet. My advice to you is to simply stay strong and have hope. You should sit him down one day, some place quiet with just the two of you, and talk about this problem. Explain to him how you feel about the situation and suggest an alternative. Perhaps him getting a new job that pays better. Don’t fight; just calmly work together to find a solution that works for both of you. If you come to the solution where you feel you must leave him, then so be it. Explain why you are and let him know that you’re not giving up on your relationship or him, you just need time. If he argues, tell him that it’s either that, or marriage and try to talk out his commitment issue.
Again, stay strong; if your love is as true as you say, you will both make it through this.

Good Luck!
Love always,
Angela

Dear Confused but in love,

My advice for you is to leave him. He is definitely holding you back. There are many rich men out there that would be much better for you. You shouldn’t have to pay for anything. He should be doing everything for you.

Xoxo
Lauren.

Dear Angela.

I was hoping you can help me with some advice. I am visiting my sister and brother and dad.

I really would like to get along with them and want to show them I have changed. But my sister and brother refuse to see that and my brother does not even visit with me.
What can I do to remedy this?

Dear, No Name

The first sign that things will get better is that you are willing to make them that way. It is obvious that you love your family and don’t fret; they love you too! Perhaps it is time for a family intervention? Get everyone together, including your father, and explain to them how you have changed at that you want to make your relationship stronger. In other words, show them the “new you”. They aren’t going to believe anything without proof, unfortunately. It is going to take time and effort to convince them. But remember, no matter what, they are your family and they love you; they always will! And they believe in you, so you have nothing to stress about.
Besides, remember that old Disney quote?
‘Seeing isn’t believing, believing is seeing’

Good luck Hun,
Love Always,

Angela

Dear No Name,

I think you should ignore them just like they ignore you. If they don’t believe you’ve changed then they obviously aren’t worth your time. They’re family so they should believe and trust you.

Xoxo
Lauren.

I have heard revenge be called 'a dish served cold' and 'revenge is sweet' do you think revenge is ice cream? if so, what flavor??

From, Quil ;)

Dear Quil,

*laughs* You make a very interesting point! Though, I do not think that is what they mean. There are different points, either revenge has no good outcome, or revenge is great and successful!
However, if revenge WAS an ice cream, I think it would be…vanilla soft serve with..cookie dough!
Or better batter! Mmm 

Love always,

Angela

Quil….

Uhm…this is an ADVICE (a-d-v-i-c-e) column genius. Where is advice needed in this question again?

Xoxo
Lauren

STYLE FILE: BACK TO SCHOOL BEAUTY!

Hello Fashionistas!
It is that time again! As we bid farewell to summer and creep towards Fall, that only means one thing to many of you. Back to School! Long gone are the days of staying up late and sleeping in until noon. Welcoming back the days of the alarm clock and rolling out of bed, but rushing to get ready for school in a hurry does not mean that you have to put your style aside! Here is a quick 5 minute beauty routine to get all of you sassy school girls looking runway ready for school!

• Apply tinted moisturizer. This will even out your skin tone and keep you hydrated all day. Talk about one of my favorite multi-taskers and money savers.
• Apply concealer under eyes and on upper lid. Sweep concealer across any areas that need just a bit more coverage (breakouts, redness, etc..)
• Buff on a sheer powder (depending on the coverage you need: translucent for sheer coverage or a pressed full coverage powder for those of us that need a little more help)
• Add a highlighter eye shadow under your brow bone and in your tear duct.
• Apply a thin coat of eye liner on top lid (and rim the upper lid if you crave a little more drama. It sounds painful but trust me once you get used to it you will be all systems go!)
• Apply a generous coat of mascara
• Apply a lip and cheek stain (what, do I sense a multi-tasker again? Love it). I know when you hear stain you think dark...stains have come a long way baby...you can get them in nude, peach, pink...you name it!
• Top it off with a sheer gloss and call it a day!

Now, just add a touch of hairspray through your hair upside down and shake it to gently tussle it. Add a headband to pull it all together and call it a day! Have a lovely time as the school year begins with your new 5 minute look! See you next time on Style File!

xoxo,
Alice Cullen Whitlock

*If you have any style questions for Alice, send them to her profile inbox and you never know, your question might just be the next style file topic!

Take me out to the ballgame...

Cullens 7, Nomads 6
By C.R. Jack

FORKS (MS) -- At age 94, Emmett Cullen started the game feeling better than he had in years; eager to be back on the field, defending the Cullen name. However, after multiple missed opportunities in the outfield, including a high fly ball that got away while he was looking at his cell phone and numerous collisions with his brother Jasper Hale, as well as one unsuspecting tree branch, Emmett may have been singing a different tune up until the final inning.
But luckily for his team, his lovely wife Rosalie, brought redemption to her family by scoring the winning run by knocking one out of the park.
"There'll be no homerun for you tonight, Monkey-Man..." Said Rosalie, after Emmett's cell phone debacle, Ouch, Emmett. That's gotta hurt!

After repeated off-kilter pitches, whizzed by Jasper Hale, the umpire walked Hale to first base, much to the chagrin of the Nomad's pitcher, Zafrina Amazon. And Hale didn't let that slide lightly... He MOONWALKED all the way from home plate to first. Ow... he's bad, you know it...

Pitching both innings for the first family, matriarch Esme Cullen, was simply on fire with her lightning-quick fastball. The Nomads could hardly see it coming down the line. Her husband, Carlisle, refereed the game, asking at the onset for both teams to keep it friendly. Let's just say, perhaps the players had an alternative definition of the term friendly.

Called out of the game early in the top of the first inning, Edward Cullen shot off the field to help find his daughter Renesmee's lost Chihuahua, Cookie. But thanks to quick thinking on the part of his brothers, Cullen didn't miss a moment of the action when his wife, Bella, took on Charlotte Barrera of the Nomads in a down and dirty scuffle. Jasper and Emmett recorded video of the fight, though no one's certain if that footage will ever be available outside of inner circles. One witness said there may have been some hair-pulling but the skirmish ended abruptly with Bella Cullen straddling Charlotte, pinning her arms and kissing her on the nose. Now isn't that a mental picture, folks? One for the scrapbook.

Unofficial cheerleaders, Pauline, Anjelika and Angela Weber, kept spirits high, despite the rain and occasional growls from Demetri Volturi. Lightning and thunder kept the teams in play for a few hours but soon after the game ended, the skies cleared a bit and mud wrestling ensued. Perfect timing. And Alice Cullen, official weather moderator for the first family, is calling for rain, showers, and the perfect storm for another game in about two weeks.

Sounds like some of the players may be free agents come August 26 when the next game of the season will be played. Team rosters will be posted soon, according to Carlisle Cullen, makeshift manager for this Olympic League.

And now for a few words from Randall Nomad, spokesperson for his team.

Come on now, you have Emmett out there playing with his phone and tripping over his own two feet, Edward leaves to go help Nessie find Cookie. And Bella and Esme could barely hit the ball!!! Of course, we were robbed!! We should have had that game. And another thing, what’s up with the cheers!!! Who could hear themselves thinking with that racket going on!!! Never fear, the Nomads/Dem will avenge this loss and have a major comeback win! We are psyched and ready!!! Bring it on!!
